“JAKARTA, Dec 30 — Indonesian media today reported the death of former president Abdurrahman Wahid, better known as Gus Dur. According to Jakarta Globe he died in a hospital in the capital at 7:45 p.m. Malaysian time today. He was 69 years old.”

Sejarah Asal mula Blackberry

Blackberry dikembangkan oleh sebuah perusahaan canada yang hingga saat inipun, tidak banyak orang yang mengetahui namanya. Sangat berbeda denga Nokia dan Motorola ataupun microsoft yang namanya dikenal luas, pembuat blackberry adalah perusahaan yang bernama Research in Motion.

Didirikan oleh seorang imigran yunani di kota waterloo, kanada. Pendiri Research in Motion, Mike Lazaridis dilahirkan di Turki, membangun sebuah pemutar rekaman dsi Lego pada umur 4 (empat) tahun, sebuah radio pada umur 5 (lima) tahun, dan berkuliah di Universitas Waterloo.

Dia memilihg drop out SETELAH memenangkan kontrak senilai 560 ribu US Dollar. Para pesimis mengasumsukan bahwa pesaing besar akan menenggelamkan produk blckberry dengan membanjiri pasar dengan produk yang serupa. Namun hingga saat ini, tidak ada satupun perusahaan seperti Nokia, motorola atau bahkan microsoft yang sanggup membuat pesaing blackberry.

Keunggulan blackbery adalah mempunyai penampilan yang sangat bersabahat dan bisa selalu terhubung, jadi dimanapun anda, anda bisa selalu mengakses email (saat ini Facebook, Blogging, dll dll). Sejak peluncurannya pada tahun 1999, blackberry telah meraup lebih dari 8 juta pelanggan di seluruh dunia.

Sejalan dengan peningkatan kemampuan layanan komunikasi seluler, blackberry pun ikut terangkat. Dan dengan makin turunnya biaya komunikasi, pada akhirnya BlackBery menjad sebuah fenomena (saat ini kayaknya di Indonesia juga lagi demam Blackberry, anak – anak muda mulai pakai alat ini yah buat nge-blog dan Facebook-an).

AWALNYA, BlackBerry ingin dinamakan POCKET LINK sebuah nama yang fungsional tapi membosankan, kemudian juga HAMPIR dinamakan STRAWBERRY, karena mirip dengan buah strawberry, tapi terkesan terlalu jinak. Sehingga dinamakan BLACKBERRY, nmaa yang akrab tapi cerdas.

BlackBerry masuk ke pasar pertama kali dengan memfokuskan diri pada layanan e-mail gegas. Pada awalnya, perangkat BlackBerry hanya memiliki layar monokrom, tetapi sekarang semua modelnya sudah memiliki tampilan layar berwarna.

Saat ini, RIM juga menawarkan layanan email BlackBerry untuk perangkat-perangkat non-BlackBerry seperti Palm Treo dan NokiaE61, melalui peranti lunak BlackBerry Connect.

Mengapa banyak orang yang kepincut BlackBerry? Salah satunya adalah keunggulannya mengirim dan menerima surat elektronik: secepat mengirim dan menerima SMS.

BB pun menjadi gadget yang wajib dimilki oleh remaja-remaja yang inign diakui ke-eksist-annya. Setelah serial Gossip Girl secara fenomenal mempromosikan BB. Serial tentang kehiduppan anak-anak muda upper Class Manhattan, Ney York-USA itu melabeli Blackberry sebagai lambang status kelas atas.

sea games 2009

SINGAPORE: Singapore's paddler Feng Tianwei won the SEA Games women's singles gold medal in Laos on Tuesday. The world number six, who is making her debut at the Games, beat team-mate Wang Yuegu 4-1 in the best of seven games. Wang lost the first three games but she made a comeback to win the fourth game. However it was too little too late as Feng wrapped up the match, winning 11-6, 12-10, 11-9, 10-12 and 11-6. Feng picked up the gold, her second after winning the women's team event earlier in the Games, while Wang settled for the silver. The 25th Southeast Asian Games is currently being held in Vientiane, Laos, in December 2009.

This will be the first time Laos has ever held a Southeast Asian Games (Laos had previously declined hosting the 1965 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games citing financial difficulties). It will also commemorate the 50 years of the SEA Games .

Prior to the opening ceremony on the 9th of December,the men's football events began on the 2nd of December . The Women's football events began on the 4th of December , Water Polo events on the 5th together with both the Pencak Silat and the Table tennis events beggining on the 8th of December .

The first medal of the games were awarded to Singapore ,when their Water Polo team won their 23rd consecutive water polo gold medal at the SEA Games during the round robin tournament round [1] together with the Phillipines taking the silver medal and Indonesia taking the bronze.
